What would it have been like to be there the night the soldiers came in to take him away. Would I have tried to do something or would I have run away in fear. How would it have been to witness the horrible suffering of Jesus and then watch him on the cross, thinking it was the end. What would I do, how would I feel?)
Would I be like Thomas after three days had gone by? (John 20: 19-23)If I hadn't been there when he returned would I believe the other disciples or have to see for myself. (John 20: 24) Would I have to put my hands on his scars and suddenly realize that my Lord and my God is alive. (John 20:28) But Jesus commended Thomas him for his faith even though he had to see to believe.
Would I just fall to my knees and worship him? Would I leave everything behind to follow him? Would I do anything to be with the man who saves my life?
So how do we avoid doubting like Thomas? When we experience doubt we need to take it to God in prayer. (Mark 9:17-27) We also need to put on the "full armor of God" (Ephesians 6:10-19).
